Juan Williams took significant heat after appearing on Fox News for a discussion of the U.S. Marine jailed in Mexico after taking a wrong turn earlier this year. Perhaps none of the responses were as impactful as an open letter penned by a fellow Marine and veteran of the Vietnam War. During the exchange on ‘The O’Reilly Factor,’ Williams lamented the fact that Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi was even a topic of discussion, accusing host Bill O’Reilly and network contributor Mary Katherine Ham of “going off in the weeds” to “Come on, that guy is not a serious issue,” Williams asserted. “Let’s get back to ISIS. Let’s talk about global policy.” Roger Herman obviously disagreed, as evidenced by the letter he sent O’Reilly in hopes that the venerable host would pass it along to Williams.
