Juanate Seffin (187 Blitz) is the original founder of the New Block Order. I was also one of the founding members. Around that time, Sound Therapy was just getting started as a DJ oriented party at Hebroots on Jefferson Street - with some brief freestyle cyphers hosted by Antonio Maceo (aka Elevation). The N.B.O. helped to form the foundation of the network of performers that ultimately defined Sound Therapy as a weekly showcase of Emcees, Singers, and Poets - as well as DJs. Sound Therapy ran strong for over four years in numerous venues and I performed there dozens and dozens of times. Sound Therapy and N.B.O. were the two of the three main ways that I met most of the people I know in the hip-hop community here in Nashville. (The third being Nick Melidiss legendary open mic on Wednesdays at the Cantina around 2000 - which Blitz also used to rock all the time). Im proud to be hosting this Sound Therapy reunion party at Boheme Collectif next weekend. Im also fired up that we got Blitz as well as fellow N.B.O. members Mic Wise and E.t. on the bill! Rashad ThaPoet and Jene India will be holding it down for the poets. Obviously all the Sound Therapy DJs will be there and we also got more of the sickest veterans who used to rock it at Sound Therapy all the time, back in the day!
