Jude The letter of Jude is the shortest of the letters included - TopicsExpress

Jude The letter of Jude is the shortest of the letters included in the New Testament, and uncertain who Jude is. Tradition identifies the writer as ‘Judas the brother of Jesus’ (see Matt 13:55 etc.), but there is no clear way of knowing if this is right or wrong. The letter warns Christians against divisions within the Christian community, and argues that the apostolic faith is not subject to change. It has been received and must be passed on. Christians who live a life of licentiousness show that they do not have the Holy Spirit and they must return to Christ who rescues. The letter also speaks of the judgement of God, using imagery from the Old Testament and the apocryphal writings. The letter does not appear to be directed to any church in particular, and it ends with a famous prayer of blessing; ‘Now to Him who is able to keep you from falling ...’. Paul H Ashby - 10/05/10
