Judges chapter 16 is one of the more powerful and heartbreaking - TopicsExpress

Judges chapter 16 is one of the more powerful and heartbreaking stories ever told in Scripture. In a nutshell, Sampson, loses everything including his life because he played with SIN. He abused and took for granted the gift God had given him by playing around and hanging with an unbeliever named Delilah (a Philistine). Samson was guilty of the same foolishness many Christians are guilty of today. He BOASTFULLY thought he could get away with hooking up with those who do not know God believing he could handle it and that nothing would go wrong. You all know the end of the story. It cost him his freedom, his health, and ultimately his life. This Fourth of July, dont see how close you can get to the edge without doing wrong. Make sure you surround yourself with people who make you more like Christ. Read and re-read Psalm 1:1-6: Oh, the joys of those who do not follow evil men’s advice, who do not hang around with sinners, scoffing at the things of God. But they delight in doing everything God wants them to, and day and night are always meditating on his laws and thinking about ways to follow him more closely. They are like trees along a riverbank bearing luscious fruit each season without fail. Their leaves shall never wither, and all they do shall prosper. But for sinners, what a different story! They blow away like chaff before the wind. They are not safe on Judgment Day; they shall not stand among the godly. For the Lord watches over all the plans and paths of godly men, but the paths of the godless lead to doom.
