Judy and I went to church at 9 am today. We were moved into - TopicsExpress

Judy and I went to church at 9 am today. We were moved into another unit that needed some more people. We still meet at the same church, walking distance from our home. I walk to and from on Sundays, but Judy drives because she doesn’t want to wear hiking boots with her dress. Go figure. Today, we sat beside a family with 5 young children, all very wiggly. A blond haired 5 year old sat beside me and started to crawl over me to stretch my tie. I asked him if he would like to sit on my lap for church, which he did, for a minute, and then he began laying, crawling and sleeping all over me. His mother told me I look like his grandpa, so he took an instant shine to me. And I was flattered by his trust and friendship. The wildest colts make the best horses. I showed him how to trace his hand on a piece of paper and how to fold his arms and how to sing the hymns. He wasn’t impressed, but on the plus side, I was wide awake for the whole service. On the opening hymn, I was belting out the hymn, as Judy nudged me and pointed to the correct verse. I was singing the 4 th verse in a loud bass, but the congregation was singing the third verse. I was a little distracted eh. Judy was a little embarrassed, but I told her I knew what I was doing; I was trying to end the song early. Later in the service, the congregation was singing hymn number 265, while I was belting out hymn number 264. I earned another poke in the ribs from my right side, while my little friend was poking my left side and pulling my tie. Judy got an alarmed look on her face and asked me if I thought I was having a stroke or something. “I’m a little distracted here.” I replied. The Lord hears the song of the heart, even if it happens to be the one no one else is singing. Next week I’m going to sing the theme from Rawhide for the opener. On certain occasions, we sing “America the Beautiful” for a hymn, and when the last verse is finished, it’s all I can do to keep from shouting out “Play Ball.” Who says church can’t be fun. I have a tie that was 5 feet long before church that is now 7 feet long. I love the little ones. For of such is the Kingdom of Heaven.
