Julius Malema’s Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party has threatened to march on the union buildings if President Jacob Zuma does not resign within 20 days, reported The Times on Thursday . “We will not leave the premises until he resigns,” Malema told supporters outside the Sunnyside police station in Pretoria. Malema filed charges of corruption, theft, fraud and racketeering against the President on Thursday. “Let me help the police here… Zuma does not allow electronic transfers, I have worked with him. He doesn’t take cheques either,” he said. This, after Public Protector Thuli Madonsela released her report on the investigation into the R246 million of public funds spent on security upgrades to the president’s home in Nkandla KwaZulu-Natal. Madonsela said the upgrades went beyond what was required for Zuma’s security, and this applied to most of the additions. She said the measures could be “legitimately classified as unlawful” because they were not cost effective or in the regulatory instruments. Malema added that charges were also laid against Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa and architect Minenhle Makhanya, who were both fingered in Madonsela’s report. Further, Malema urged that an investigation be conducted of Zuma’s family members. “He has a son who collects the cash for him. All his children must be investigated,” said Malema.
