The purpose of these meetings is to enhance communication and cooperation between municipalities, authorities and boards to establish high-priority goals important to our entire community. Maintaining dialogue between elected and appointed officials in our community is critical if we are to continue meeting the needs of our citizens and promoting Wayne County as a destination for industry, business, professionals and visitors. The first step in this planning process is a strategy meeting with the Mayors of Jesup, Odum and Screven and the Chairmen of the Industrial Development Authority, Hospital Authority and the Board of Education. At this strategy session, we will lay-out a plan for a “Community Leadership Strategy Retreat” to be held this Fall that will involve more of our community leaders. Please come prepared to discuss the highest priority needs of your organization at this first meeting. But, you will have the opportunity to go back to your respective boards to seek their input and refine your organization’s list of high-priority needs before the broader “Community Leadership Strategy Retreat”. Peggy Jolley, Georgia Power’s Regional Manager for Community & Economic Development will be facilitating this meeting and will work with us through the entire process. This first strategy meeting will take place at the Bennett Union Baptist Church Fellowship Hall on July 31st from 12PM to 2PM. Lunch and beverages will be provided. If you cannot attend and must send a representative from your organization in your place, please send another elected or appointed board member as opposed to a staff person.
