July 14, 2014 at 10:39 pm…that is a date and time that will forever be etched in my mind. That is the when one of the kindest and nicest men I have ever known got the call to go Home. I had the pleasure of getting to know Terry Martin because of a friendship that I have with Jason…and there was a time when I spent as much time at the Martin house as I did at my own. It was then that I learned why everyone who knew Terry and Mary Sue called them “Paw and Maw” I enjoyed more than one or two dinners with them and even joined them several times for their annual beach trip to the North Carolina coast. Over the years I have not seen them very often, due to growing families and busy travel schedules…and I hate the fact that I didn’t have an opportunity to say goodbye to Paw…but the entire Martin family has been on my mind and in my prayers. I will echo the sentiments that I have read about Paw in saying that he was one of the kindest, nicest, gentlest men that I have ever known. And that same demeanor will live on thru Maw, thru his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren…and thru all of us who had the pleasure of knowing him. Godspeed, Paw…we’ll see you soon!
