July 17- As we were going through Torrey, UT, Jake needed to purchase himself a new pair of shoes since the pair he was currently wearing had worn down to the sole. We stopped at a place called the Back Country Store and as Jake was trying on shoes, I conversed with a woman working the store named Elessa about the walk (remember her name because this will not be the last time she is mentioned). When we left the town of Torrey, we were actually quite spoiled with a number of other little towns along our route today. One of these communities was called Bicknell and on this towns Main Street, we took a short break on the side of the road. While relaxing, a car with tinted windows drove up and out stepped a familiar face. It was Tina, the manager of the Roadway Inn in Caineville, UT and she had brought 2 other individuals with her as well: her husband and step-son. After a brief introduction, Tina handed us each ice cold water, gatorades, trail mix, and even some souvenir T-shirts to remember Caineville, which had been dyed with a grey clay from the area. They had all been on their way to the closest shopping center in the area (nearly 100 miles away from Caineveille) and kind enough to think of us on their way there. Once again, Tina, you are incredible! We stopped todays walk in the town of Loa, UT at the unique and cozy Snuggle Inn. Richard, the owner of the motel, has collected artwork for over 50 years and has it displayed all throughout his inn that seems to second as a museum! As I mentioned in an earlier post, my parents had sent a new camera to Loa and the good news is that I was able to pick it up today and send the old one back home! The D5300 is an upgraded version of my old camera and i am so grateful to my parents for mailing out to me in such a short amount of time! Also, this new one remains in bubble wrap when not in use. For the next month and a half, I am going to do my best to keep it in the most preteen shape I can while out in this unforgiving territory.
