July 19, 2013 POL products sales remain low in FY13 On a monthly basis, Furnace Oil sales witnessed a diverging trend, increasing by 9 per cent MoM. The latter was backed by improved supply of FO to IPPs as PML-N declared its strong commitment towards minimizing power outages in budget FY14.According to research report, the sale of Mogas reflected a heavy 15%MoM decline during June-13 mainly on account of a higher base impact (high sales during the month of May-13 led by elections). On the other hand, HSD sales also witnessed a drop of 5% MoM due to early monsoon season in Punjab and KPK leading to a decline in the use of HSD in agriculture for irrigation purposes. Post FY14 budget, PSO being the largest OMC with a market share of ~65% benefited the most with FO sales growth of 14%MoM. However, Mogas and HSD sales by PSO witnessed a drop of 20%MoM and 7% MoM respectively during Jun-13. (Daily Times)
