July, 1985: Twelve students of N.S.S.High School in Kidangoor, Kerala, were expelled for not singing Indias national anthem. They belonged to the sect Jehovah’s Witnesses which disallows followers from submitting to any authority apart from God. August, 1986: The Supreme Court asked the school to take the students back and ruled, Our tradition teaches tolerance, our philosophy teaches tolerance, our Constitution practices tolerance, let us not dilute it. August 19, 2014: Kerala Police arrests two students of University College, Thiruvananthapuram, for hooting while the national anthem was played before the screening of a cinema at a local theatre. One of them also wrote an abusive Facebook comment regarding the issue. My Comment: An Indian citizen has the right not to sing the anthem. But abusing a constitutional symbol may not be the right thing to do because there are others who respect it. It is also criminal to sing the national anthem in the worst manner possible. Instead of calling for prohibition in Kerala, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president V.M Sudheeran should expel this congress functionary from the party. https://youtube/watch?v=1AsWJk9zHlE
