April 1999 - Two teenage students shot and killed 12 classmates and a teacher at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado, before killing himself. July 1999 - A stock exchange operator in Atlanta, Georgia, killed 12 people including his wife and two children before killing himself. September 1999 - A gunman opened fire at a prayer servicein Fort Worth, Texas, killing six people before committing suicide. October 2002 - A series of sniper-style shootings occurred in Washington DC, leaving 10 dead. August 2003 - In Chicago, a dismissed worker shot and killed six of her former job. November 2004 - In Birchwood, Wisconsin, a hunter killed six hunters and two others were injured after an argument with them. March 2005 - A man opened fire in a church in Brookfield, Wisconsin, killing seven people. October 2006 - A truck driver killed five students and seriously injured six others in a school in Nickel Mines, Pa., before taking his own life. April 2007 - The student Seung-Hui Cho shot and killed 32 people and injured 15 at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia, before committing suicide, making it the deadliest mass shooting in theUnited States after 2000. August 2007 - Three students from Delaware State University privileges shot dead in the "execution style" by a 28 year old man and two 15 years. A fourth student wasshot and stabbed. September 2007 - A freshman at the State University shot and wounded two other students in a campus cafeteria. December 2007 - A young man of 20 years killed nine people and wounded five others in a shopping mall in Omaha, Nebraska. December 2007 - A woman and her partner shot dead six members of his family in the Christmas Eve in Carnation, Washington. February 2008 - An armed man is still at large, tied and shot six women in a clothing store in Chicago, taking the lives of five of them and leaving a wound. February 2008 - A man opened fire in a conference room at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois, killing five students and wounding 16 others before turning his gun and surrender. July 2008 - A former student shot three people in a computer lab at South Mountain Community College in Phoenix, Arizona. September 2008 - A mentally ill man who was released from prison a month before he shot eight people in Alger, Washington, leaving six of them dead and wounding twoothers. October 2008 - Several men ina car drove into a dormitory at the University of Central Arkansas and opened fire, killing two students and injuring one person. December 2008 - A man dressed in a Santa Claus outfit opened fire at a family Christmas party in Covina, California, then set fire to the house and committed suicide. Police later found nine people dead in the rubble of the house. March 2009 - A dismissed worker opened fire while driving a vehicle through several cities in Alabama, killing 10 people. March 2009 - A heavily armed man shot and killed eight people, many of them old and sick in a private nursing homein North Carolina. March 2009 - Six people were shot dead in an apartment building in Santa Clara, California. April 2009 - A former student of 18 drug offenders at a pizza delivery boy in his old bedroom, shot him a bedroommonitor and then took a shot at Hampton University, Virginia. April 2009 - A man shot and killed 13 people in a civic center in Binghamton, New York. July 2009 - Six people. including a student, were killed in a shooting at a community rally on the campus of Texas Southern University in Houston. November 2009 - The U.S. military psychologist, Major Nidal Hasan, opened fire at a military base in Fort Hood, Texas, killing 13 muetos and 42 wounded. February 2010 - A teacher fired for 50 minutes at a meeting of the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Alabama, killing three colleagues and wounding three others. January 2011 - A gunman opened fire at a public meeting outside a store in Tucson, Arizona, killing six people including a nine year old girl and injuring at least 12 others. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was seriously injured with a gunshot to the head. July 2012 - A man opened fire on Mars July 17 in a bar in the U.S. city of Tuscaloosa and caused 17 injured, several of them seriously life threatening.
