July 20, 2014 Pastors weekly devotion ~ Please read and feel free to comment or ask a question, and our Pastor will respond accordingly: “Shut It Down” “Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels.” 2 Timothy 2:23 (NIV) God’s Word is so clear and to the point when outlining Satan’s goal and his main purpose, which is to steal, kill and destroy your life. He doesn’t always use over-the-top, easy-to-recognize theatrics to pull us out of God’s will. No! More often, he uses subtle annoyances to first steal our peace. Does this sounds familiar, or do you know someone who allows minor arguments and petty irritations to separate them from loved ones and brethren? If you dont shut the “it” down in your life, the “it” will always play on your human sensibilities, distracting you from focusing on God’s will. Notice how the Apostle Paul warns Timothy to recognize silly issues and questionings, and refuse to engage, lest he be consumed by strife and contention. As Christians, we need to take time out from being ignorant, and recognize Satan’s attacks and warfare tactics. Its best sometimes to button your lips and just walk away from potential conflicts if they are not righteous. When you engage in nonsensical confrontations, you run the risk of inadvertently falling into Satan’s trap. It’s okay to walk away from controversy that threatens your faith and peace. The source just might be Satan at work, using someone close to your heart to steal your license to live. Once your peace is gone, it’s easier for him to kill your spirit and destroy your faith. Learn when to shut it down and start living for God. YIC, Pastor W.D.
