July 24, 2013 the space this morning is dedicated to talking about the up coming F.R.O.G. Banquet. This is the one BIG and ONLY fund raiser that the organization has for their annual budget. It is an important fund raiser because based on the money raised the F.R.O.G. will know whether or not it will be able to continue funding all the worthwhile programs that they traditionally sponsor. These include the Youth Dove, Deer, Waterfowl, Turkey, Fish Day, and all the archery competitions as well as their hunter education programs. Programs that are organized paid for and conducted completely by the F.R.O.G. and its members. This year the banquet hopes to exceed the 300 mark for tickets sold. This Friday, July 26, the doors will be opened at the Riley Conference Center on Fort Riley at 5:30 p.m. There will be a Social Hour followed by a dinner. During this time participants will be given the opportunity to buy raffle tickets as well as bid in both a silent and open auction. Just a few of the prizes and items offer are: 11 assorted guns, rifles, pistols, shotguns, 3 compound bows and even an African Safari. Additionally representatives from the National Wild Turkey Federation, Pheasant Forever, Quail Forever, and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation will be present and they too will be bringing high dollar prizes to be raffled off. Tickets for the event will be $20 at the door for dinner and $40 if you wish to join one of the four organizations mention above. Youth 17 and under can get a meal ticket for $10. I can not stress enough how very important it is that this banquet gets total support from both the Fort Riley community and our surrounding Junction City, Manhattan, Ogden communities as well.
