Cox 2, A. Branigan, P. Johnson, O. Lawler, L. Morris, Best: D. Cox, C. Nolan, M. Sainsbury, A. Branigan, O. Lawler, J. Youd Numbers of players were in short supply again with Currie only being able to get 16 on the team sheet while North were finally able to get Tim Shuuring and Tom Perry out of the back paddock to play their first game of the season. It was a tight struggle early with both back lines doing a great job. The ball went from one end to the other on numerous occasions until Currie finally found the sticks through Branigan and Johnstone. Law-Davis got one for North to get them on the board and then Stewart from Currie got his first. Sutton slipped one through for North but was answered with one to Youd which saw Currie go to the first break with an 11 point lead. Dwayne Baldock(Baldy) got North off to a quick start in the second, but Currie were quick to reply with the young pacey Patrick Johnson. Anderson from North booted one and then Currie slapped on three through Youd, Lawler and Morris. Baldy stopped the rot for North but then Johnstone and Stewart both kicked their second for Currie. David Stewart was enjoying being able to show that he could kick goals as he had been saying all season to his coach that he was a forward and not a back man. The third was an even affair as far as goals were concerned but Currie were playing the better football. They seemed to be using the ball better than North with Cox doing a great job round the mid field along with Branigan Lawler and Youd. Jonstone booted 4 for the quarter to see Currie lead by 39 points at three quarter time. It looked like Currie might run away with the game but that was not the case as North surprised us by coming out full of running to get the first 4 goals of the quarter. Tim Shuuring for his first game back was showing that he has not lost his touch while James Law-Davis was a power house player for North along with Justin Summers who has been playing some great football. Currie pegged a couple back through Cox and Youd but North kept peppering the goals with Kyle Barry getting his third after some strong play. Johnstone for Currie kicked his 7th for the game and then Sutton kicked 2 for North to see them inch to within 10 points of Currie. Sutton missed a couple of sitters earlier in the quarter which would have really made things interesting if he had of got them. In the end Currie hung onto their 10 point win in what was a good contested game. Next week Currie travel to G. Town to play Grassy at Leach Park. Grassy have not lost a game so far this season and will be keen to keep their form in place running up to the finals, while Currie will be out to show that they will be a team to be reckoned with come finals time.
