July 29, 2014 When He had finished speaking, He said to Simon, Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch. Luke 5:4 Simon answered, Master, weve worked hard all night and havent caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets. Luke 5:5 Enlarge the place of your tent; Stretch out the curtains of your dwellings, spare not; Lengthen your cords And strengthen your pegs. Isaiah 54:2 Instead of your shame you will have a double portion, And instead of humiliation they will shout for joy over their portion. Therefore they will possess a double portion in their land, Everlasting joy will be theirs. Isaiah 61:7 So the ransomed of the LORD will return And come with joyful shouting to Zion, And everlasting joy will be on their heads. They will obtain gladness and joy, And sorrow and sighing will flee away. Isaiah 51:11 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 1 Peter 5:10 For you will go out with joy And be led forth with peace; The mountains and the hills will break forth into shouts of joy before you, And all the trees of the field will clap their hands. Isaiah 55:12 July 29, 2014 - A Double Portion - Instead of your shame you will have a double portion, And instead of humiliation they will shout for joy over their portion. Therefore they will possess a double portion in their land, Everlasting joy will be theirs. And you will be called priests of the Lord… You will feed on the wealth of nations, and in their riches you will boast. Instead of their shame My people will receive a double portion… they will inherit a double portion in their land. You are called “priests of the Lord” because Jesus has cleansed you with His blood and made you kings and priests to God. And as priests of the Lord, God says to you, “You will feed on the wealth of nations, and in their riches you will boast.” And you will “inherit a double portion in their land”. believe God when He says that His people will receive a double portion. This double portion includes blessings of favor, fruitfulness, success, riches and health. In fact, the people around you will look at you and your descendants, and acknowledge that you are a people that the Lord has blessed! Just know that with destinies - sometimes there are delays - but when God ells you that instead of your shame you will have a double portion, And instead of humiliation they will shout for joy over their portion. Therefore they will possess a double portion in their land, Everlasting joy will be theirs. Just believe!!! A Double Portion - Instead of your shame you will have a double portion, And instead of humiliation they will shout for joy over their portion. Therefore they will possess a double portion in their land, Everlasting joy will be theirs. I once was told that I had the gift of faith. In my early years I believed God could and would do all I looked to Him to accomplish. And truly, He has done amazing things. In spite of years of ongoing hardships, I have experienced God as the Prevailing One, and He has never let me fall beyond His ability to recover me. However, some of those hardships broke my heart and my faith reached a point where I didn’t have the stamina to keep believing God like I once did. My faith had been buffeted, and although I knew God could still minister through me by His Spirit, and could still get me through the heartaches, I no longer had the courage to believe Him for much more than surviving the storms. I guess I fell so hard because I had been taught that God had a great destiny for me, and I assumed I knew how that would look. Surely the years in front of me would manifest my version of victory and dreams fulfilled! In the end, (or perhaps, more correctly “part way through”) the journey nothing looked like I dreamed. Lately, something has begun to stir in me…seeds of hope are arising. A Double Portion - Instead of your shame you will have a double portion, And instead of humiliation they will shout for joy over their portion. Therefore they will possess a double portion in their land, Everlasting joy will be theirs. Faith is a powerful thing. Jesus said if we believe we can move mountains. As for me, I want to live in that kind of faith again. I want to believe in the goodness of God manifesting on my behalf and catapulting me into His kingdom purposes, beyond what I could dream…beyond what I could do without Him. After all, Scripture does tell us all things are possible with God! understand that some things I dreamed are probably behind me now, but God can resurrect those dreams in another form. He did it for Moses, Joseph and many others in Scripture: their dreams and callings came forth, but just in a different way than anticipated….so why not for me? A Double Portion - Instead of your shame you will have a double portion, And instead of humiliation they will shout for joy over their portion. Therefore they will possess a double portion in their land, Everlasting joy will be theirs.Delays, obstacles, hardships, these things do not take our God by surprise, nor do they go unnoticed by Him. Zechariah 9:12 says: “Return to your fortress, O prisoners of hope; even now I announce that I will restore twice as much to you.” Amen! Restoration is not just recovering what was lost, but, according to this Scripture, God will restore double! And so, I declare this day that it is not too late for you, nor I, to be brought forth into the fullness of the destiny God has ordained for us! Rather, we are right on time to receive a double portion from our Father’s hand! A Double Portion - Instead of your shame you will have a double portion, And instead of humiliation they will shout for joy over their portion. Therefore they will possess a double portion in their land, Everlasting joy will be theirs. Looking back at the example of Joseph once again, although God called Joseph to be a leader, the enemy had him thrown in a pit and he was later placed in prison. One could say he had to wait years until he came into his appointment with destiny. Nevertheless, although Joseph’s destiny in terms of being a national leader may have been delayed, he was set into place at just the right time to accomplish what his leadership call entailed: to preserve a people through a famine. Joseph was not late. He was right on time. his hour of destiny seemed to have been delayed, but he was faithful to the call, even in his time of abasement. This prepared him to later fulfill his destiny as Pharaoh’s right-hand man! David is another example of a godly man whose coming into destiny appears to have come forth “later than necessary,” if one views it from a human perspective. You know the story: Samuel anointed him king and God’s favor brought him into the king’s court…and then David had to flee for his life, pursued by his enemy – King Saul. David had to learn about leadership from God alone and this prepared him to be a godly king. As well, in the wilderness, there were many other men who were drawn to David, and he became their leader. In this way, David was fulfilling his calling, even when his ultimate destiny seemed out of reach. A Double Portion - Instead of your shame you will have a double portion, And instead of humiliation they will shout for joy over their portion. Therefore they will possess a double portion in their land, Everlasting joy will be theirs. Joseph and David are examples of saints who walked faithfully in their callings for many years before being brought into their God-appointed destinies. Their lives remind us that “even though our destinies may be strategic defining moments in life and history, our callings follow us from the moment we are born, and mark the path to our destinies through seasons of preparation and refining,” our faithfulness within our callings (following Christ and bearing fruit) prepare the way for God’s faithfulness to bring us into our destinies. I believe in the case of Joseph and David, that their faithfulness was the fruit of their “faith-fullness.” Joseph and David kept faith; they held on to God through the storms that came. That is a key difference between those who will fulfill their destinies and those who will settle into defeat: faith. Faith keeps us in agreement with God and hence, protects us from embracing the lies and reality of what the evil one would try to create through difficult circumstances. Faith faces forward, and faith is what allows God to move. A Double Portion - Instead of your shame you will have a double portion, And instead of humiliation they will shout for joy over their portion. Therefore they will possess a double portion in their land, Everlasting joy will be theirs. find strength knowing that the storms of life did not and will not overthrow God’s plans in the lives of His chosen ones! God simply conforms them to His outcome and brings good out of them! I take heart when I recognize that many biblical saints endured years of testing, not because life ripped them off, but because suffering prepares souls for glorious destinies. In my own life, Jesus recently told me that what I suffered the past decade or so was necessary. He assured me it was a season – “a season of suffering that was necessary so that I would know Him, and so that He would know me.” Jesus also told me that after the suffering comes the recovery, and in the midst of that there is a double portion being released to me. Even so, I believe that God is releasing a double portion to many of His persevering saints in this present hour! With so much hope before us, it is a pointless exercise to look back at all that we have suffered or lost; those things do not define whether or not we will fulfill our destinies! They are just components of a season we’re passing through! The real truth is that even now, you and I are not only emerging into a season of recovery, but we are on our way from recovery to destiny! Some circumstances you and I have gone through may not have been God’s will, but I know for myself He has either turned them around, made a way in spite of them, or removed those things from my life. Hence, we can be certain that even in the midst of great heartache, God WILL still fulfill His purposes in a life. Even when things don’t look like we dreamed, and we lose some dreams along the way, still God will make a way to fill our hearts with something uniquely from Him and to align our paths with His. Even if there are delays and the desert season is dry and long, still those delays will not stop God from bringing forth His choice vessels at just the right time. Our God is sovereign. He has a call on your life and mine. And He has a destiny appointed to all who persevere through the delays and the hardships. It is not too late. It is at hand!
