July 3rd Well it seems that not even hurricane Arthur can slow these girls down...he made his presence known in Wilmington with tornado warnings, but they just suffered with flickering lights...the hurricane wrecked havoc through the area but these girls only felt the comfort and security of family. Maddie had an exciting day....She was moved into a big girls bed! Yeah, milestone, good job Maddie. She also gained 40 grams, so she now weighs 4lbs 10ozs...She spent the rest of her day resting and growing, still looking forward to the day she is back to her reputation of feisty. But we all know being a preemie is hard work! Emmie had a mandatory brain MRI and it came back normal, this grandma would argue the tech was off a bit, she surely exceeds normal. Emmie is also starting to track with her eyes, she will follow someones movement. Growing girl... Today mommy gave her a bath with no monitors! No feeding tubes! Nothing...She LOVED it...mommy LOVED it . She still only eats half her bottle and needs tube fed for the rest...but shell get there. Today she gained 30 grams, so she weighs now 4lbs 12ozs ..way to go Maddie. Justin and Jen are sleeping at the hospital tonight because of the weather, and Jen mentioned how nice it was not to have to decide when was a good time to leave. They could go to a hotel down the road, but as the girls get older they want more responsibility for their care.... Oh the day they will all be home... Not even a hurricane can dampen the spirits of this family! Tomorrow Aunt Summer Lillywhite is coming to see them... I think they are excited.
