July 4, 2014: July 10, 2014 is the date for the Indianapolis Symphony in the Park. Danvilles Ellis Park has hosted this event numerous times. Last year (2013) the guest conductor was Jack Everly. I helped my sister Karen with the catering, and arrived early. We unloaded the food under the shelter near the Pap Martin bandstand, and a motorhome was parked next to the shelter, with the engine running so as to power the RVs air conditioner. Low and behold, when the ISO musicians arrived and unloaded their instruments, the maestros accommodation was locked, and it was necessary to track down the key to unlock the door. The maestro and I spoke briefly during this time. Tonight, a year later, the same conductor was leading the orchestra in Washington DC, at A Capital Fourth (I told my wife, I know that guy. A quick google search revealed the following about Mr. Everly) If you have a chance to come to Ellis Park next Thursday, you will hear some fine music, Im sure.
