July 5, 2013 Taking the First Next Step With the departure of Bill and Barb Krueger, we have begun to look at what our Next Steps are. This has afforded us the opportunity to step back a bit, and examine the structure of duties and responsibilities, and we have decided to make some adjustments. After consulting with Bill, Tony Pappas, and others, we are separating off the responsibility for our critically important Summer Camping ministry, and creating a new year round position to focus in this area. With this division, the role of Grotonwood Director will allow more time to work on our dining experience, and the condition and development of the facility with our staff, and to grow our Retreat and Conferencing activity. In meeting the challenges of this newly defined position, we are pleased to announce that Mark Reilly, who has been serving as the Weekend Host for the Retreat and Conferencing activity for over a year, will move to this new position as Director of Grotonwood. In addition to the experience gained in working with us at Grotonwood, Mark has extensive experience working with his home church, and in business. He brings this knowledge with a dedication to the mission of Grotonwood, and a vision as we grow. Please join us in welcoming him to these new challenges, and work with him in this exciting new role. This is the first next step, and we have two more to take. By separating the Summer Camping Director, we are beginning our evaluation and search for this person. Our current state is envisioning a year round position, but are not clear about whether it would require a full time year round level of activity. Our hope is that we will find the right person and have them begin work before the end of our current session on August 24th. The third Next Step is to find our new registrar and administration / office manager. As with the other areas, we are taking the opportunity to re-examine the details of this position, however in general terms it would be that all important first voice on the phone and first face in the door. They would be the administrative support to the varied aspects of our work, and a pivotal help in the working of the team.
