July 7, 2013 OBEDIENCE IN WORSHIP Does our worship reveal obedience to God? It doesn’t if we worship for the wrong reasons or in the wrong ways. It doesn’t if we worship with the wrong attitude. It doesn’t if we worship idols instead of God. Looking back on those who worshiped wrong in the past should remind us there are right ways to worship God and there are wrong ways to worship Him. We should be obedient in our worship to God ensuring we have the right attitude, worship the right way and for the right reasons. And we must only worship God. If we don’t know how, we need to get into God’s word and ask Him to show us how to properly worship Him. John 4:23-24 “But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.” (NLT) Dear Lord, we know there are different types of worship. Some sing. Some pray. Some are still. Some are loud. However, we do know there are certain ways that we all should worship. And You tell us this in Your word. Help us today, show us today, lead us today…to worship You only in spirit and truth knowing that we will honor You with this type of worship and that is the type of worship You are looking for. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
