July 9, 2013 When I am out walking around the yard, if I see a feather on the ground I will stick it in my pony tail. Sometimes I will forget about it like I did the Blue jay feather I found today. When i got in the bath the feather was floating in the bath water. I was talking to this Blue jay as he sat on the feeder squawking, telling him to quiet down. Little did I know he was giving me a gift. Thus this poem was given to me. Thank you Mr. Blue Jay. The Blue Jay Feather I stuck a feather in my cap. I settled down for a nap. I dreamed of soaring with the birds in the sky. I felt a rush of freedom that made me cry. My tears they formed a stream. The clearest I have ever seen. I watched the stream take my troubles away. Oh how much those troubles did weigh. The loss of them was a purifier. Allowing me to soar so much higher. I felt a lightness as my burden lifted. Such a happiness I had never before been gifted. Clearer vision of my true goals. The darkness lifted from my soul. I awoke washed in a peaceful glow. The kind only dreams can bestow. All because I stuck a feather in my cap. Before I settled down to nap. Tina Merrifield
