Junction City Brigade Defeat Golden Giants For Mid Plains League Tournament Crown The Mid Plains League Tournament championship game came down to the very last game on Sunday night. Heading into the final day of the Tournament, the Topeka Golden Giants were in a great spot needing just one win to take the crown. The Brigade needed to beat the Golden Giants twice in order to take home the title in the double elimination tournament. Game one went to the Brigade 5-3 in extra innings as the Brigade came from a 3-2 deficit in the fifth inning to get the win and they forced a winner take all second game of the day. The Giants couldn’t find the pitching as the Brigade came out swinging to an 8-1 lead after the 3rd inning. The Giants fought back to close the gap to one but couldn’t complete the comeback as the Brigade won 13-9.
