June 10 at 6:30 pm at the Brookhaven Library a developer is hosting a meeting to discuss his proposal to rezone 1695 East Nancy Creek Drive from the current R-100 zoning to R-60. While this development is small, building 2 houses where there is currently 1 house, it is a concern because of the precedence it could set for future development in the neighborhood. Historically the neighborhood has maintained the position that property inside the neighborhood should stay as R-100. Rezoning or more dense development has only been supported when it had a property line abutting Chamblee-Dunwoody Road since that street has a higher functional classification and also has commercial and institutional uses on it. Allowing a rezoning on a lot inside the neighborhood could allow others to say that they should also be able to build two houses on their lots.
