June 14 2006. I was 17 years old and scared out of my mind. It was the last day as a civilian and the first day as a soldier. I remember being at the airport and my mom crying but I wouldnt let myself cry. There was too many people going to basic training that day with me you see and I was the baby so I was determined to show everyone how strong I was when I left my family. That night after a very long day at about 2 in the morning when we finally laid down to go to sleep I cried myself to sleep not understanding what I had just done to myself and wanting to runaway. (Not too much in case someone could see me) about 4 long months later on September 4th I graduated basic training and showed everyone who doubted me that yeah I really was that strong and yes Im girly but dont let that fool you I will get down and dirty. That by far is my biggest accomplishment in my life. And I cant believe that its been 8 years since basic training graduation this month and 4 years since I have been out last month. Holy crap when did I get old and yes I am now thinking maybe I should have stayed in bc I would be almost half way to retirement. Haha but I am happier now than I ever have been in my life and for that I am thankful
