June 18, 2013 Barren County Fiscal Court will pursue attorney general opinion for pavilion By AMANDA LOVIZA VICKERY Glasgow Daily Times GLASGOW — The Barren County Fiscal Court will request an opinion from the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office regarding T.J. Health Pavilion’s property tax exemptions, following a re-vote on the issue at Tuesday’s meeting. During the May 21 regular meeting, magistrates Gary Gillon, Tommy Matthews, John Benningfield and Billy Houchens, and Judge-Executive Davie Greer, voted against asking the attorney general to re-examine whether T.J. Health Pavilion, which houses for-profit T.J. Health Partners but is under the umbrella of nonprofit T.J. Regional Health, should pay taxes on the pavilion property in the Barren River Plaza shopping center in Glasgow. On Tuesday night, just as the June 19 meeting got under way, Gillon stated that he would like to change his vote on the issue, and made a motion for a re-vote. Matthews seconded Gillon, and Gillon, Matthews and Benningfield changed their votes to align with magistrates Chris Steward, Carl Dickerson and Rickey Spillman. Greer and Houchens were the only two court members to once again vote against the measure. Read more of this story in the print or digital Glasgow Daily Times. glasgowdailytimes.cnhi.newsmemory/
