June 19 The special presentation that we rehearsed for nearly two and a half months was our preschool graduation waltz. This was a serious undertaking, allowing small children to stand out in their ability to learn a choreographed, formal dance. With opening music, the teacher and I announced the students, each coming forward to their positions. They did this with very good manners amidst applause from the audience. Once on stage, the music changed to “This Is the Air I Breathe”. The girls stepped forward. Taking their measured steps to where the boys offered them their hand, they gave a spin, and all proceeded to the center of the stage. Steps forward, steps to each side. And then a flower was formed, opened, and closed. The girls each danced with one of the boys who was at the center. Those waiting stepped forward in a circle, giving spins. Each then went with measured steps to dance with the other two boys, and then all proceeded from the stage. It was a tremendous performance.
