June 26, 2014 Class: It has been my purpose and privilege to spend this month together! We learned how to do research. The more you research the better you become and it all began right here! Thank you for the grand experiment of joining together in Facebook and posting projects that will continue well after this course ends! You never know what good work began here in our class will become your true-life calling and life mission. I am thinking this will be your purpose in life. For far too many of you this course will be cause of therapy lots of therapy to cope with the experience of my holding this class hostage, languishing in the morass of never ending assignments and the national nightmare of that damn grading sheet. Either way the memories will continue well after we end this week. There were some disappointing aspects to our class. I feel there were very valuable opinions not expressed in our class for fear perhaps of blowback from others or a grade reduction. You can always read the book and memorize formula but we transcended that to explore the issues and meaning of our lives. Sadly most classes will power point you to death and just talk at you and not allow a free flow of ideas! I am reminded of the DECCA record company that declined to sign the Beatles they knew that kind of music was on the way out! Of course that one mistake would be extremely costly! Dont be like DECCA! Not attending class or showing up late is very disrespectful for the teaching process! Sadly some chose not to experience the class and just went through the motion of showing up and playing student! Other teachers dont allow you to express your feelings and ideas, I encourage it! We all had the opportunity to explore new ideas and share what we feel but some did not explore! In my first email I had originally told you to rest and stay hydrated, now as we come to a close we are free again to move about the world of discovery with a thousand new ideas for change! We have the power to rock our world and roll the world of others. (See what I did there?) We have been on a sojourn together, a passage of self-discovery, insights and personal growth. We are not afraid, we are ONE people, ONE voice, ONE resolve, ONE destiny. We can think outside the Fox, fight poverty, ignorance and evil in all its forms! We can stand up for our cause and share with others until the whole world knows! Did we do all this in four weeks? Will we give up our keys and cell phones without question, without a fight? Will we stand by and not call out to help others? We shared our sacred music, sacred culture, insights, loves, food and our wonderful miracle life stories. I cherish them all. I trust this was a safe class to share our fears and joys, our laughter and sorrows. I trust that we all felt safe together in the sandbox of our classroom. We threw no sand at each other, nice, very nice. No one made fun of us, ridiculed us or put us down. We looked at 14 chapters, defined a book of words, reviewed over 70 articles, watched 7 very insightful personal videos, created projects of self change and posted everything that moved to Facebook until our eyes bled. We looked at the power of the media within the myriads of articles. We saw the face of evil in selling Hilter and the silence of bystanders. We learned discrimination in all forms is wrong. We saw how indifference can lead to others being victims. The profound sagacious truth of Elie Wiesel who is the moral authority in the benighted world taught us courage and to never, never allow others to be victimized. Do We Think Different? Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do. Best of luck to all of you in the future.
