June 26th, 2013 - Toronto Personal Notice: Written by: Mr. Michael Kharabian, President Armenian Democratic Liberal (Ramgavar - ADL) Party Distributed via Facebook E-mailed to His Holiness Karekin II Catholicos of All Armenians E-mailed to the Holy Trinity Apostolic Churches in Toronto and Montreal. Over the past several weeks many sad, untoward and unsubstantiated letters have been circulating in Toronto and Montreal with regard to the ouster of Bishop Bagrat Galstanyan. These are unconscionable letters not worthy of response. Without hard facts and mostly ignorant, the letters that have been circulating have directed blame for the events that transpired towards many camps including the ADL (Ramgavar) Party referencing Dr. Arshavir Gundjian – an ADLP member. In principle the ADLP does not and will not respond to unsigned letters, this is therefore a personal note to set the record straight – where the ADLP is concerned. For the past eight years, I have been the President of the ADL (Ramgavar) Party – and I can categorically state that the ADLP did not and does not presently direct any of the action(s) attributed to Dr. Gundjian and conversely the ADLP was not and is not presently involved in Diocesan decisions or the choosing of delegates. Furthermore, Dr. Gundjian has not attended any official or un-official Party meetings – in Canada or anywhere within the ADLP World/Chapters for the past several years. The ADLP (Armenian Democratic Liberal party) is a party that believes strongly in Democratic principles, and has for the past one hundred years continually defended the Armenian cause, the State of Armenia and our Apostolic Armenian Church, based in Etchmiazin. It is sad that this religious issue has been grossly politicized – it is sad that the trust of Armenians in Canada has been tainted towards our church – it is doubly sad that democracy (especially within the sanctity of our Church) has been besmirched and that our Parish Councils have allowed the very fabric of our unity to erode - Armenians in Canada have been shamed by this experience. The ADLP Central Committee is always at the ready to lend whatever assistance is required to remedy the situation and hopes that clearer minds will prevail to bring this unsavory chapter to a close. Finally, and without taking any sides, I would like to commend the work of our Bishop Galstanyan, and to thank him for the massive effort undertaken by him for the benefit of all Armenian Canadians, on behalf of all ADLP members in Canada. It is rare to see his kind of dedication and exuberance within our Church – may he have a posting worthy of his immense intellect and ability. Michael Kharabian
