June 30th, 1979, it was late, I had washed my hair, the phone rang it was my dad, Joyce, you need to come to the house, Tommy has been in a wreck, We got in the car and headed to mom and dads place. It hit me... if tommys been in an accident why are we going to mom and dads house. Why are we not going to the hospital? we pulled up daddy was on the porch he came to me as we were parking, I will never in my life forget the look on his face, I said .. JUST TELL ME HES ALIVE... daddy shook his head NO!>. I felt my knees buckle under me and daddy grabbed me and helped me in the house. I was 6 months pregnant with my son Robbie... back than you didnt know yet if it was boy or girl. Soon the family began arriving one by one... those next several days were like a nightmare I wanted to wake up from. It wasnt happening, it wasnt true. 35 yrs later, I can still feel the pain, the hurt, the over whelming saddness my heart aches , I still miss my little brother... and our dear friend Rick. Because a man choice to drink and drive , a man with a history of drinking. He murdered my brother and his friend. DRUNK DRIVING KILLS! it destroys lives.......it wasnt an accident, it was a choice......two families lost loved ones. Tommy was 18 just graduated from high school, his whole life ahead of him, him and rick were single. they never got to marry have kids nor grandkids. You hear about this happening to other people.. But when it happens to you or someone you love. You are never prepared for the horrible anguish , the deep lose. It it had not been for friends and family.. and most of all the Mighty hand of Gods mercy none of us would have made it through those dark days. Those prayers, I remember my dad said he had a vision of telephones poles for miles and God spoke to him and said this represents all the people who have been praying for you...HIS PEACE PASSES ALL OUR UNDERSTANDING! even 35 yrs later when I hurt he brings his peace. WE LOVE AND MISS YOU TOMMY AND RICK!
