June 6, 1944, 160,000 allied troops hit the beaches of Normandy to fight Nazi Germany. 69 years ago today. More than 5,000 ships and 13,000 air aircraft supported the D-Day invasion. The cost of that single day was high, more than 9,000 allied soldiers killed/wounded. WWII saw 209,672 allied casulties before defeating Hitler in victory. The price of freedom is high. WWII vets are becoming more and more rare each day as their aging bodies give out. Make no mistake, they remember it like it was yesterday. Take a minute to review a bit of history with the younger generation and teach them of the sacrifices made in order to keep us a free nation. And then, be thankful.
