Within CEEME, “Strategy, Energy Economics and Risk” (SEER) advises the operational entities and the corporate services of the company on their analysis of the energy markets fundamentals, their economic assessments of commitment files, their strategic analyses and their choices regarding long term portfolios of activities across the value chain. SEER helps the corporate functions, and the Directorate Strategy in particular, setting forth and implementing the corporate governance on economic matters. SEER is currently seeking a (Junior) Analyst to reinforce its capabilities in the field of energy market fundamentals. The scope of work will be primarily the undertakings in the European countries, and occasionally those overseas to foster the crossbreeding of our practices. Your responsibilities Under the lead of a Chief Analyst, or a Project Manager, the (Junior) Analyst is instrumental in developing, organizing and delivering the agreed economic analyses requested by the business entities. Together with the team, and in good intelligence with all the stakeholders, he/she shall: team up with local businesses and gather market data in order to develop structured market analyses; continuously improve and substantiate the understanding of market fundamentals for electricity mainly, gas, other fuels, emissions, green certificates, etc. and advise the business units on these topics contribute to the regular provision of market price references for illiquid products and maintain the documentation of the assumptions thereof apply appropriate simulation techniques and risk valuation methods to assess market and strategic risks for projects and portfolio of assets follow up the work of external consultants and join working groups gathering experts and decision makers from the Centre and the Business Lines actively cross-breed with his/her peers across the company on all the aforementioned topics Qualifications you have a university degree in engineering or economics you are proficient with operations research, quantitative decision analysis, statistics, econometrics or corporate/project finance you have a basic understanding of the engineering, economics and financial fundamentals of the energy business, with 1+ year (Junior) to 3+ years of industry experience and/or in a quantitative analytical role you are familiar with mathematical modelling languages and simulation models widely used in the energy industry you are able to structure market analysis and present the conclusions to middle or senior management you want to closely and actively team up with operational business entities you have a good team spirit and communication skills you comfortably work in cross-functional and multi-cultural organizations you are fluent in English and one of the languages spoken in Belgium; the knowledge of other European languages is an asset you are prepared for regular travelling in Europe (ca 10 to 20% of the time) and worldwide occasionally Your HR contact Lindsey De Sutter-Skhiri - 0032 2 518 61 47 https://gdfsuez.taleo.net/careersection/10500/jobdetail.ftl?lang=fr_FR&job=1439001
