Junior Duvall, 81 year old Checotah resident, passed away peacefully, Sunday, July 28, 2013 in Tulsa, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Tuesday, January 26, 1932 to Zell and Sophia Villines Duvall on the family farm in Hitchita. Junior was raised in Hitchita where he attended school and left during his junior year. In 1950 he entered the United States Army where he served for two years, received an Honorable Discharge and then returned to Hitchita where he began working at the Henryetta Smelter and went on to finish his education, graduating from High School in 1954. He met, fell in love, and married the love of his life Lavon Potts on Monday, March 28, 1955 in Henryetta and he continued to work at the smelter for 18 years. Junior began Duvall Trash Service in Tulsa working this business for six years and then worked for the Ball Glass Company in the shipping department. He loved farming and raising cattle where he bought and sold herds of cattle and was a great bargainer. He enjoyed raising cattle, working on his farm and all animals. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him. Junior was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Troy, Booger, Jip, and Bob Duvall; and his sister Ina McReynolds. He is lovingly survived by his wife of 58 years, Lavon; children, Joni Chesser and husband Ben of Jenks, OK; Joel Duvall of Checotah; Glenda Duvall of Jenks, OK; and Brad Duvall and wife Pam of Jenks, OK; grandchildren, Ashley McMahen and husband Adam of Longview, TX; Nick Chesser of Beggs, OK; Jackson Duvall of Jenks, OK; great grandson, Caleb McMahen of Longview, TX. Junior is also survived by his sisters, Ruby McCullah, of Hitchita, OK; and Billie Hamilton of Glenpool, OK; and brother, Emmit Duvall and wife Athaleen of Hitchita, OK and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and a lifetime of friends. In honoring the life of Junior, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in his memory to the First Free Will Baptist Church Building Fund, 713 North Broadway, Checotah, OK 74426. Viewing will be 9 AM- 7 PM, Wednesday, July 31, 2013 with his family greeting friends from 5-7 PM at Garrett Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, August 1, 2013 at First Free Will Baptist Church Family Life Center with Reverend Tom Tidwell and Reverend Larry Montgomery officiating. Committal prayers, Military Honors and Interment will follow in the Hitchita-Lackey Cemetery under the personal direction of John Garrett. Bill Duvall, Roy Duvall, Jim McReynolds, John McReynolds, Lawrence McCullah and Joe Bob Duvall will serve as Casket Bearers. Bill Brown, Louis Sevier, Charles Condren, Tim Buchannan and Willie Wiles will serve as Honorary Casket Bearers. Military Honors will be rendered by the United States Army Funeral Honor Guard.
