Juniors and Seniors: IT Essentials and Network Fundamentals courses We are pleased to again offer our students IT and Cisco Networking courses as we continue to develop a stronger STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) program with our Massasoit Community College partners. The course is taught by a Massasoit professor at RHS. IT Essentials (Course 102542) Grades 11-12 Covers the fundamentals of computer hardware and software as well as advanced concepts. Topics include internal components of a computer, assembling a computer system, installing an operating system, troubleshooting using system tools and diagnostic software, connecting to the internet, and sharing resources in a network environment. Additional topics include laptops and portable devices, wireless connectivity and basic implementation skills, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP, security, safety and environmental issues, applied network configuration, troubleshooting, and communication skills. Couse is taken in conjunction with Network Fundamentals (Course 101022) and College Readiness Math. Interested students entering 11th and 12th grade are encouraged to contact their guidance counselors. The Guidance office is open on Wednesdays throughout the summer. Students in the program may earn college credits upon successfully completing the course. Completing all four modules will prepare the student for the Cisco certification that is nationally recognized in the workplace. For several years, Randolph High School through an ESE STEM Early College High School Grant, has been partnering with Massasoit Community College in teaching STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) classes.
