Just A Thought: Luke 14:22-24 reads, 22) And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room. 23) And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. 24) For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper. Why would three men, that were bidden to the great supper of the Lord make excuses and not come? One said, I have purchased a piece of ground. Another said, I have to prove my five yoke of oxen. The last one said, I have a wife and cannot come. The Lord Jesus told this parable to show that the materialistic mind set and the strong pull of a wife (or husband) can lead to a persons eternal ultimate separation from God. This parable was an example of what our Lord Jesus has called us to. He has called us to THE LORDS GREAT SUPPER. Lord, I cant come to your supper, Ive purchased a piece of land and I need to go see it. Hum... How valuable is that piece of land to you now, when youve died and awaken in the torments of hell? That land, no matter how great, is not worth missing the LORDS GREAT SUPPER. Lord, I cant come to your supper, Ive purchased some oxen and have to go prove them. To miss the Lords supper to see if your oxen can plow a straight row? How valuable are those oxen one second after you die? Were they worth turning down our Lords invitation to His great supper? Lord, I cant come to your supper, Ive got a wife! Yes... Dear Christian, even a person (wife, husband or child) can be an excuse for missing the greatest supper that has ever happened or that will ever happen. The first two excuses, land and oxen. The last one, a wife. Everyone who does not come to our Lords GREAT SUPPER, has an excuse. There excuse does not hold water, but nevertheless, they hold to their excuse. According to this parable, the three men who gave these excuses to the Lords servant, were cut off. ...that none of those men which were bidden shall TASTE OF MY SUPPER. How sad, to have received a personal invitation to the LORDS GREAT SUPPER, by the Lords servant, (preacher, missionary, evangelist etc.) and make an excuse not to come. The EXCUSE lost people hold on to will be a part of their torment in hell. Go out into the highways (urban areas, cities) and hedges (rural areas, jungles) and compel them to come in that MY HOUSE may be filled. God is in the process of filling His house. Gods house will be filled, not with the prideful but rather with the broken, weak, blind, maimed. The poor in spirit! God will save that one last precious person before the angel Gabriel shouts with a SHOUT, then blows the trumpet blast, and the dead in Christ shall rise first. We which are alive will meet them in the clouds and together we will rise to meet the LORD in the air. Where is our Lord Jesus taking His redeemed? To THE LORDS GREAT SUPPER! Hallelujah! Look for me at the table of the Lord, I will be there because of His matchless saving grace. When God sent his servant (my very own dad) to invite me to the SUPPER, I said, Yes Lord Jesus, YES!
