Just Like The Ravens Fed Elijah! And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there – 1 Kings 17:4 Beloved of God, Ravens are amongst the rare species of birds that eat meat, just like the vulture. It was raven that Noah sent after the deluge which never came back when it saw the amazing number of dead meats to feed on. It is instructive that God commanded a raven to feed Elijah with that same meat that it would rather eat; yet, God suspended its ability to satisfy its own needs until God’s target of miracle was satisfied first! Remember how God also suspended the eating ability of lions when Daniel was thrown into the den. When the brook was dried up and the raven’s assignment expired, God commanded a widow woman to repeat the miracle, suspending her needs until God’s object of grace was fully satisfied: Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I haue commaunded a widow woman there to sustaine thee. Here are some of the reasons for this write-up: First, be anxious for nothing for it is nothing for God to sustain you and provide you with all your needs, the ‘how’ is His prerogative. Second, nobody dares touch God’s package to you – He will use people that are in dire need of your blessing to bless you. Thirdly, even when it seems that your ONLY hope of sustenance has finished, God will make another way! Finally, you are more than qualified for God’s miracle because you are Abraham’s seed and heir according to His promise!
