Just a Thought...The niyyah (intention) plays an integral role in the life of a Muslim...consider this: a. Two people perform Salah...both outwardly perfect it...yet one receives reward and one is punished? How is that? Well...the person who receives reward (Inshallah) performed the prayer for the sake of Allah, and the other did not! b. If someone has just won it big in the lottery...the money of course is Haram, but if he comes to you and purchases something that you have...and he tells you...this is money I won from a lottery jackpot! Although the money is acquired through Haram sources, it is Halal for you because it has been transferred over to you through a lawful transaction. c. When it comes to food items...the intention likewise plays a massive role. Look at Bareerah, may Allah be pleased with her, when she received a sadaqah (charity) and gave part of it as a gift to the Prophet, may Allah praise him. He accepted it...although it is Haram for him to consume Sadaqah! The reason it became Halal was the change in intention! The issue of intentions is like an ocean...there is so much that is built upon it in the Shariah! The Ulama classified the rule that pertains to intentions among the greater fiqh principles. We ask Allah to bless us and grant us success in this life and in the next, and to grant us beneficial knowledge...Ameen!
