Just a comment - Canadians spend the money (when they demand big government and a social welfare state) that creates national debt. Everything government does costs money, which takes our money out of our pockets and, when we want more than government can afford, because we demand they spend more than we are willing to give them, it creates debt. The question is; are all Canadians willing for the government to cut the spending the government does on their behalf? Are they willing to see support for programs they like removed by government? Most people are quick to complain about government spending, yet equally quick to claim to be naive about where the funding came from for the programs they use or approve of. Its hypocritical. Until Canadians stand up and say, cut spending across the board and put spending back into the hands of Canadians (to support what they believe in out of their own pocket) then they must stop complaining about the wild spending of government to meet the demands of citizens that believe the government is responsible to micro-manage every aspect of life and also responsible to take care of every need and desire of Canadians. Its a Nanny State mentality that gets us into this mess and if polls are at all reliable, for anything but to manipulate upcoming votes, people are leaning toward Liberal or NDP government in the future (unless things change soon) meaning they want more spending on social programs, more micro-management of our lives and more debt as a result (yet pretending they want responsible government). Canadians dont really care about government accountability (as a whole) or else they wouldnt scream and yell that the government de-funded this or that program, they would instead be calling for more de-funding until the debt was paid and until we had a surplus to work with. But frankly they would rather the illusion of prosperity while living under the oppression of debt. Dont believe me? How many people live by example regarding what the government should do? How many Canadians will refuse to get a loan, get a debt card (credit card), get a mortgage (death pledge - theraleighmortgageguy/2011/07/what-is-a-mortgage/)? If a person wants to set the example, they need to refrain from instant rice quick fix deficit financing and then stand up and call government to do the same. That would be consistent reasoning.
