Just a couple of random thoughts on the Scotland vote. Voter turnout was in the high 80% range. As others have noted, if that happened in the U.S., the country would perform an instant whiplash-inducing turn to moderate progressivism overnight. The entire map would be blue. The corporate oligarchs would never get the genie back in the bottle. A hefty proportion of the Labor MPs in Britain are from Scotland...Scotland being far more Left than Britain at large. The Stay-In vote may or may not have been the best thing for the Scots, but it saved the world from an all-Tory-Thatcherite supermajority England that might have done god knows what sort of mischief. We probably owe them a huge thanks.
