Just a few days left before Rachel Andelman graduates from Shorecrest Preparatory School and last night she picked up some more hardware: runner-up in Media Arts category of the St. Petersburg Mayors Youth Showcase of Achievement. Kind of an odd category because neither the winner or other runner-up won for filmmaking, but heck, its still a nice award! And the intro to the winners featured clips from three of Rachels films, including The Zipper. Congratulations to Shorecrest for winning an overall award for excellence, as well as to fellow seniors Meggie Gardner, Evie Sobczak, and Jami Fehr. Mimi Andelman and I extremely appreciative to the teachers who guided toward so much recognition for her work this senior year, including Bill Leavengood, Mark Kungfucracker Runge, Charla Gaglio, Chris Powers, and Beth Bartlett. And a special tip o the hat to the indispensable Fatima Morlando and Su Stevens!
