Just a few days till the trains start chugging away now. A few days left till camp begins. Before I got to Karachi, in preparation for my camps, my mom did lots of big and little tasks. Some things, like purchasing a rug for story time were carried out under my instruction. Others, her own ideas of what would make this whole project better and nicer, were on her initiative and kept a surprise for me till I got here and saw for myself. One such surprise she saved up for me was that she got one wall in my little camp-room freshly painted...to make the space look more festive. Its so delicious looking, the color she chose. Such a bright cheery sky tone. And you know what, she told me? She said that the code name for the color on the painters shade card was Story Blue. Story Blue! Eeee!! I love little things like this. Little hidden synchronicities, little secrets, little bits of magic, it feels like, floating in and out of the margins of the every day. I am sitting on the rug, flipping through books, making lists, jotting down ideas, planning the stories I will read and the games I will play, getting a little jittery in the whole process because theres so much to do, so much stepping out of comfort zone to happen...and every time I glance up, I see the wall and I think Story Blue! and it makes me feel good.
