Just a few minutes ago I was turned away from the tour of Syncro Corp. and the so-called “District 27 Economic Development Forum with Governor Bentley.” Mr. Don Mitchell greeted me at the front door of Syncro in Arab, did not let me enter and told me this was a Republicans only event. He then added that I was not welcome and told me that I needed to leave. As a candidate for District 27, the former representative of District 27, a local businessman myself, and an attorney for a number of entities interested in economic development, I thought it was a meeting that might be worthwhile for me to attend. But alas, I was not allowed in. Since when are certain Republicans able to decide who can and who cannot participate in a discussion of economic development? How are the people of this District going to benefit from the closed door, “members only” mentality that this represents? Aren’t all the people of District 27 entitled to be heard? I certainly think so. Jeff
