Just a little about the Artist performing at the Saving K9 Lives plus Concert next Saturday Sept. 13th, at the Arena in Valley. BOBBY KIMBALL Bobby Kimball is best known as the lead singer of the Grammy award winning group, TOTO. In 1974, Bobby Kimball left Louisiana and moved to Los Angeles where he joined 3 members from the defunct band, Three Dog Night, to form a new band called S.S. Fools. They released one album on CBS Records, but the band split up within a year and a half. About 6 months later, Kimball was asked by David Paich and Jeff Porcaro, the two initial founding members of Toto, to join the five session musicians to form Toto. He submitted a self-penned audition song for the band, You are the Flower, which was included on their debut album. Bobby has been touring and doing concerts with many of his friends bands around the world. In January 2010, he did 14 concerts in Germany on the Rock Meets Classic Tour with The Prague Symphony Orchestra, featuring Philipp Maier as Conductor and Music Arranger. The singers with Kimball on this tour were Lou Gramm, the original lead vocalist of Foreigner, and Dan McCafferty, from the band Nazareth. On May 16, 2010, at the LMHOF Louisiana Music Homecoming in Erwinville, LA, Bobby Kimball was inducted into The Louisiana Music Hall of Fame. Bobby has just completed the vocals on a Duets CD with Jimi Jamison, who sang with the band Survivor, which will be released by Frontiers Records in the Spring of 2011. Bobby is now recording his new Solo CDs and working with his Solo Band. Bobby wrote the opening song, “Saving my Best Friend”, for Saving K9 Lives. He has been promoting the need to help animals all over the world. Robert Kimball is the Vice President and Treasurer of Saving K9 Lives Plus. ELLIS HALL Virtuoso multi-instrumentalist, accomplished and prolific performer, vocalist with a five-octave range, Ellis Hall, possesses a style that commands attention in its diversity and depth, and in a four decade career to his credit, numerous live performances and studio sessions with many top artists. Formerly featured as lead vocalist and keyboardist with the soul-stirring group Tower of Power, he culminated his stint with co-production, arrangement and songwriting prowess on their album Power. Ellis is also recognized for his hit performance on the Kenny G. multi-platinum album Duotones and the gold and platinum California Raisins albums. He has also appeared with the likes of George Benson, Herbie Hancock, Stevie wonder, Patti LaBelle, Earth Wind & Fire, Natalie Cole, George Duke, Bobby Womack, Billy Preston, James Taylor, Sheila E, John Mayer and his musical mentor Ray Charles. With his group “Project Insight,” comprised of visually impaired musicians, he appeared for the President’s Council for the Disabled, and also appeared at the Kennedy Center to celebrate President Clinton’s Western Inaugural Ball. He has produced, written and performed in many popular film soundtracks such as The Lion King, Chicken Run, Shrek 2, A Bugs Life, Bruce Almighty, Beneath the Darkness, and Invincible, and too a run in acting with Big Momma’s House and Catch me if you Can. Hall has performed around the world and had the distinct honor of playing at Helen Kellers funeral. His vibrance and joy for life and music can be summed up in a word be considers his motto “Chakalaka”. He lives in Los Angeles, CA with his wife/manager Leighala Jimenez-Hall. SPENCER DAVIS Hailing from Wales, Spencer founded the famed Spencer Davis Group in 1963, producing a dozen top 10 hit songs, including Gimme Some Lovin, Somebody Help Me, I’m a Man, and Keep On Runnin, helping to bring British rock ‘n roll to the rest of the world.Spencer accepted an award from BMI in London for over 3 million broadcast performances of Gimme Some Lovin. Over the decades Spencers songs continue to live on in movies, such as Tropic Thunder, Big Chill, Mr. Destiny, Days of Thunder, Top Gun, Mr. Hollands Opus, Notting Hill, Iron Eagle, The Blues Brothers, Flight of the Phoenix, just to name a few. Spencer Davis also worked at two record companies in Los Angeles, Island (his bands label) and another indie label but soon the road would call him back to touring. The forever touring Davis has worked with the royalty of Rock and Roll. In 1993, Spencer united with three other famed musicians to form The Classic Rock All-Stars (Mike Pinera-Iron Butterfly, Jerry Corbetta-Sugarloaf, and Pete Rivera-Rare Earth). The group released a self-titled album together and toured the US, Canada and Japan. Davis left the Classic Rock All-Stars in 1995 and continued touring Europe and the US into 1997. In the Fall of 1996, Spencer teamed up with The World Classic Rockers, comprising of Carmine Appice-Vanilla Fudge, Bobby Kimball-Toto, Denny Laine-McCartney and Wings, Randy Meisner-The Eagles, and Michael Monarch-Steppenwolf. Spencer also contributed to the release of World Classic Rockers-Double CD and toured extensively with them. Spencer then teamed up with the Rock and Roll Army, consisting of Felix Cavaliere, Mitch Ryder, and Rick Derringer. 2006 kicked off with a special guest appearance at David Fishofs Rock n Roll Fantasy Camp in Hollywood, followed by a Battle of the Bands at the House of Blues and concert with Roger Daltry. Since then Spencer Davis has spent his time touring around the world by demand, continuing to rock his fans everywhere he goes, and we are thrilled to have this legend perform for our Voiceless Fur babies.
