Just a little sneak peak into the World of Eric. We were informed about this awhile ago but have waited till now to release this. One particular commonwealth games relay squad member found themselves in a bad position only a day or two before the Australian team was to enter the village. This athlete had just run a warm up race, and raced very well only to injury his hamstring right before the line. It was a bad enough injury that it would be very unlikely that he would be able to run as part of the relay in Glasgow. As soon as this was confirmed, Eric informed the athlete that he was to leave the holding camp immediately and he was left to fend for himself in a foreign country. His family had booked tickets to watch him compete in Glasgow, but they werent due to arrive for another 10 days. He had also booked a holiday for after the games, but now found himself in England with no accommodation and no family. All Eric had to say was sometimes thing get tough Luckily, Simon Nathan was there to lend a hand in securing accommodation for this athlete till his family arrived. Now comes the sad part, this is no fault of AA as it is Australian Comm Games Association policy, but the athlete was ordered to return his uniform, the commonwealth games uniform he had been wearing proudly for that last few days but was told to give it back. Again, Simon Nathan told him to hide a few articles of clothing that he wanted to keep before he had to return his uniform. It seems like this uniform saga has nothing to do with Eric, but this athlete has heard from the village that Eric was walking around in our athletes returned gear and letting people know that he was, even making such remarks as everything worked out for everyone (the team were in very very short supply of smalls and the athlete returned a full kit of smalls). The question we would like to know is, does Eric have to return his uniform now that he has been kicked out of the village, as per ACGA policy, just like our unfortunate athlete?
