Just a little update for you, friends. Since my recognition/frustration post I have received - A whole lot of facebook likes. - 100+ messages and emails of support and solidarity, from women (and a dozen men) many who gestured towards some kind of shared experiences. Most of these are private messages. - Around 5 gentle messages from people wanting to clarify that they didnt mean anything by their actions (I know they didnt). -Three (well intentioned) messages from men who wanted to challenge me or tell me that I am wrong. + a few that dont really fit into any of those categories. Ive felt so much fear and shame and self blaming. Dont worry critics, if you have thought it, I have obsessed over it. I love real talk, but I dread it too, you know? This stuff is really hard to talk about, even when the environment is supportive and loving. I just want you to know that none of this was easy. Just in case this soapbox looks fun. It really isnt. Im getting off it now. Lets talk about my garden. I dont think my psyche can handle justifying/explaining/relating for a bit.
