The rule goes directly against the science showing that these wolves must be able to live in the Grand Canyon and southern Rockies, that less intentional mortality and fewer lethal removals should be allowed, and that 750 wolves constitutes the bare minimum for recovery. As it stands now, the proposed rule would keep the wolves south of I-40, open up new and damaging loopholes to kill wolves, and artificially cap their numbers at just 325 in Arizona and New Mexico combined -- you can hardly call that recovery. I strongly urge you to reconsider these provisions and let science, not politics, dictate the details when you go to publish the final rule.
