Just a note. I kept seeing a book advertised in a variety of online locations that sounded good, so I ordered it, intending to read it on the plane yesterday. I knew I was in trouble by the third sentence when I read ....he headed for the baggage claim tiredly...., but since my fallback novel was in the overhead bin, I plowed on with the horrible writing until I couldnt go any farther. The author is in love with adverbs, and sometimes uses the same one two or three times in a single sentence. He also loves the word lifeless, using it twice in once sentence. His lifeless eyes were fixed in the distance, his lifeless body limp. Really? I thought about throwing it down the aisle, but the flight attendant was in the way and I figured throwing things on an airplane would violate some sort of federal law. Life is too short to read bad books when there are so many good ones out there. I was burned by this guy because I ordered it online without knowing his work. Thats why I like bookstores. I can read a page there to see if an unknown author produces quality work. Support your local bookstore. Okay, the rant is over.
