Just a quick world about Access Tucson as well. They too are on the chopping block in this latest budget crisis, only they are slated for complete elimination. I fully support the continuation of Access Tucson as well. In college I took what was then called Radio and Television courses. But never did I get so much hands-on experience with the real gear of audio and video production as I did in the 1980s working with the Video Art Network on Access Tucson. That experience helped me as well as I created the multimedia division of the former Tucson Citizen newspaper, and has been invaluable to me in my post-newspaper career as a documentary film making. the mayor and council talk about wanting to create jobs in the community. Access Tucson has been doing it for years, and remains an imortant place for ordinary citizens to speak out and have access to the tools of the media. Access Tucson faces great challenges as the ctys contract with Cox Cable is about to expire. But it also has great leadership in Lisa Horner and such advocates as Paula Aboud and Leslie Ann Epperson. Lets rally behind Access Tucson.
