Just a rant, I suppose.. Finally had my appointment & saw my doctor, after trying to get my appointment moved up the for the past 2 weeks. Im 32 weeks and he has never once mentioned testing for repeat ICP. I had it with my last pregnancy 2 years ago, with a different doctor. I ask him today if he plans on testing me because Im positive I have it again. He looks confused and asks why I think I have it. I tell him all my symptoms... pale stools, dark urine, upper right quadrant pain, literally been jaundice, and of course the itching. He says, you know you can be itchy without having cholestatsis, right? (Twice, he says this) SERIOUSLY? Lol.. Um, yes? I wish Id responded with, you know I was diagnosed previously, riiight? Like, what the heck? He has all my paperwork faxed from other hospitals and Ive seen CHOLESTASIS, in red ink, written, by him, on my chart. Ummmm.... I just dont even know what to think. So after minutes of him researching on his phone I hear him mumble liver function test. So Im sure to mention that I also need a serum bile acid test. He ignores me and continues to fool around on his phone. Finally we go leave his office & head to the blood work area and I hear him talking to the lady, is there such thing as a blood test called bile acid something or another? LOL, really?! What the heck were you doing on your phone that whole time if you never saw bile acid test mentioned?? Anyway.... He wants me back next week. Just me or was that a bit ridiculous? I mean.... I trusted this doctor would be on top of things. Ive had midwives with my last 3 pregnancies and figured Id get a doctor this go-round because I always end up needing to be seen by an MD & a high risk one, also. And here I will be already 33 weeks by the time I even MAYBE get started on Urso????? Im trying hard to not be just flat out PISSED.
