Just a reminder about-Inclement Weather Info KCPS will keep you informed about school closings due to winter weather The Public Relations Department of the Kansas City Public Schools (KCPS) always seeks to make sure students, staff and the community are well informed about breaking news related to KCPS. The notification for the cancellation of classes due to extreme cold, snow or ice is as follows: The decision to cancel classes is made by the Superintendent of Schools based on the recommendation of his administrative team, including Facilities, Transportation, Safety and Security, and the Executive Cabinet. KCPS strives to notify the public of the cancellation of classes as soon as the decision is made. In many cases this notification should occur by 5:30 a.m. the day of the cancellation. Every effort will be made to notify the public the day before the cancellation. We will post notices on the KCPS website, Border Star website, on social media (Facebook & Twitter), through School Reach (phone and text), and on local radio and television stations.
