Just a short ramble through metacognition with a definite set of points. So the angel Gabriel appeared unto the virgin Mary and announced to her, There will be a son born to you of (hopefully) virgin birth. You might possibly want to name Him Jesus (if that suits you.) He may just wind up being the Son of the Highest. He may pull off saving His people from their sins. So hey Mary, keep that in mind. It just may happen that way. I guess well see. Goodbye. During Marys pregnancy, she encounters Elizabeth who is (hopefully) carrying the future forerunner of (for real?) Jesus Christ. As soon as Elizabeth heard Marys salutation to her, the child in Elizabeths womb who was (purportedly) to be John the Baptist, the (supposed) forerunner of Jesus Christ leaped for joy in his mothers womb! (Or maybe it was just gas?) So Jesus was born being (as was believed?) the Son of the Highest, (maybe) having been born of a virgin. According to popular myth, Jesus was born in a manger, because the local Howard Johnsons was fully booked up, no vacancies. Also according to popular legend, three pretty smart dudes who had (somebody said) gotten the word up that the Savior (?) of all mankind was to be born in Bethlehem, (as near as anyone can figure it), and they showed up with some pretty cool gifts to give to Jesus. It was all kind of cut and dried, so to speak, and many events surrounding the birth of Jesus were (who knows) foretold by many of the old, (we sure hope so) holy prophets of God and they were (said to have been) given utterance (maybe) by the Holy Spirit. So both John the (authentic?) forerunner of Jesus and Jesus Himself being (as was supposed) the only begotten Son of the Living God, (we sure hope) being full of grace and truth both grow up and grew strong in spirit. When Jesus was (approximately?) only 12 years of age he stayed behind in (as far as anyone can gather) Bethlehem. Jesuss (we hope not) father had to sojourn there to be taxed according to an edict issued by Caesar Augustus, Romes big dog on the porch at the time. Mary and Joseph both were (maybe) a little concerned to not find their (?) son Jesus amongst their company travelling home again after paying their taxes, so they (might have) gone back to Bethlehem searching (I reckon) for Jesus, to see what kind of mischief he was getting himself into. According to popular myth, Mary and Joseph found Jesus sitting in the midst of doctors (maybe?) of Jewish law, hearing out what they had to say and also popping a few questions of his own to them. Needless to say, (we imagine) it was a (kind of) remarkable event to witness and freaked everyone out, but they all got over it and traveled on home to (we hope) Nazareth after Jesus made a statement (something about) How is it that you were looking for me? Did you think Id be at the local Y or something playing handball or what? You and pop (really Mom...) both know I have other more important business to attend to, and ya should have known (maybe?) where Id be and what Id be doing. So the story goes on (dah dah dah dih dih dahhhh) and (as far as we can tell) both John the (hopefully) Baptist and Jesus grow up and (we surmise) start to go about their respective (we think?) ministries. John (maybe?) saw Jesus coming to him to be (ya reckon) baptized of him cries out, Behold! the (I hope anyway) the Lamb of God! Which taketh away the sins (we sure hope so) of the world! And so the story goes and Jesus goes out seeking (after being tempted of the (real?) devil 40 days and nights (tentatively?) the (as far as myth relates) the twelve (or was it 13?) men who are going to be His earthly (wow) disciples. He went to gather the men who would after His willing (must have been tough) sacrifice for the sins of the world (ya think?) carry on the work of spreading the (Gospel?) (you sure?) after the original (?) disciples were endued with power (yeah right) from on High? OK got it. I wonder how we would feel about the Word (?) of God if it related Jesus doing a quick trick and turning well water into Wild Irish Rose under more dubious circumstances? Maybe Jesus had some kind of pills or something that He dropped into each stone vessel? Is it left up to conjecture maybe? Who knows, right? Its all open to speculation, or is it? This was His so called beginning of miracles (?) that Jesus seemed rather hesitant (gee I wonder why) to perform at His Mothers (?) request. Also what if Jesus had answered the devil (you kidding me? that is only a Halloween costume character!) differently in being tempted of him? What if Jesus had answered the (real?) devil when he told Jesus to turn the stones into bread by saying, Gee ya know what? That is kind of a moot point youre trying to make there, Mr. Devil. Im not even sure I could do it even if I wanted to (?) Im sure that would have lent the (Holy?) Scriptures much more credence and it would have been deemed to be MUCH MORE (is that possible?) inspired if Jesus had replied to the Tempter (?) that way? What do you think? What if the Holy (?) Scriptures had been recorded by the holy (really?) men of God differently? What if in their respective accounts of the conception, the birth, the life, sacrificial (?) death and subsequent ascension back into Heaven (a real place?) a little differently? What if they had recorded Jesus as having made statements like, Well, as far as I know, (dont quote me on this but..) Im the Son of God. Im really hoping things work out according to the Plan (you know made before God ever created anything?) for me here. Im monitoring the situation closely and REALLY listening intently during prayer just hoping that I hear from my Father what I am specifically to do while Im here in this (I guess?) earthly incarnation? If you all would, just give me lots of space to truck out into the mountainous areas to pray a LOT so I can HOPEFULLY stay on top of this thing, and try to pull this whole deal off with panache. Is that cool? Dont worry, Ill keep you advised and Ill be hanging out with ya. Just hang loose. (Does that sound like George Bush talking or what?) Imagine if the Lord had been just kind of non-committal, just going with the flow and hoping He could pull off what He only hoped was to be His earthly mission of being (in all truth) born of a virgin Mother who was overshadowed by the power of the Highest? What if the Bible had not been clear about who Jesus really was, is and ever shall be, the almighty Son of the Living God? Would anyone really have taken the infallible Word of God seriously? What do you think? Is it right for anyone speaking the truth of Gods Word to speak it definitively and with the utmost conviction, knowing that the only salvation from a real hell and being given heaven instead offered to us in Christ is anyones only hope by being given the most miraculous gift of all: a spiritual nature change? Should anyone already redeemed and cleansed by the Blood of Jesus seek to tell others about this greatest of all miracles being totally convinced of the absolute truth of the Gospels? Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Go figure and choose your own flavor, if you will. As for me, I have no compunctions about sounding the trumpet with as certain a sound as possible. If anyone does not like me for doing that, all I can say is, We ought to obey God rather than men like Peter responded when commanded not to speak by jealous religious bigots in the name of Jesus ever again. Like the Word says, who shall give heed if the trumpet is sounded with an uncertain sound? Go figure. Either Jesus is exactly not only who He says He is but also all of Scriptures declare Him to be from cover to cover or He was just a charismatic, gifted speaker and actor who would have had to have been deranged and suffering from grandiose delusions. Remember: there were thousands upon thousands of witnesses and recipients of the miracles Jesus performed on countless occasions. Its up to each one of us to decide on who we (willingly) believe Jesus to be. The Lord didnt want automatons: robots to love Him. What kind of divine love relationship would that have been? That is why we are all given the choice of either accepting what Jesus did for us and assimilating His finished work into our lives (by request only) or rejecting what Jesus did, never receiving the gift of eternal life that He willingly died in our places to pay for, being raised from the dead for our justification and sending His Spirit to eternally indwell each and every one who will ever call upon His Name in sincerity while there is yet time. For the invisible things of Him (God Almighty) from (by) the creation of the world are clearly seen, being (fully) understood by the things (us) that are made, even the Lords eternal power and Godhead. This verse of Scripture being Romans 2:20 states that every person is given by God Himself the knowledge that HE IS, and that He is a holy God who reveals Himself to all of us in His Creation. That is the biggest reason that we fall for the lie of sin: we desire (lust) to experience the thrill of partaking of the forbidden fruit of rebellion, disobedience, and self will because we know that we are rebelling against our holy, loving God. It is the thrill of certain death. for the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Thank you Jesus. You see, no matter how anyone tries to slice it up, it all still boils down to us making a conscious, willful choice to either reject or accept the finished work of Jesus Christ for us. There will be no excuses in the day of our certain judgment. Each one of casts our deciding vote: life or death. Romans 2:21 Because that when they KNEW God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful, but became vain (OK?) in their imaginations and their foolish hearts were darkened. (In rejecting the Lord) Thats a wrap. Not to be heavy but hey, if you ever see my house on fire and you know Im sleeping in here, please do me a favor and break a window and wake me up so I can escape being burned alive if you would please?
